Three Greatest Obstacles to Hearing God & How to Overcome Them

Faith Lifestyle Purpose

Want to be the first to know?

Recently, one of my clients took a new position with a new company and found herself leading a team. Finding that she had inherited a whole package of problems that had not been resolved by the previously leader, she asked me for some suggestions on leadership and business resources. I jumped at the chance to help her overcome the obstacles I knew she was about to face in navigating change with her new team. I’ve been there, and I know that when you’re leading a new team through change, you need quick wins. When you need consistent, quick, implementable resources, podcasts are the way to go!

Over the last two years I’ve become a podcast junkie, so dwindling down my list to a few favorites was no easy task! I love podcasts, because I enjoy the quick win I feel when I learn a new nugget that I can quickly implement. Since I compiled the list for her, I thought I’d share it here for you too.

Read to Lead Podcast with Jeff Brown

What it’s about: Jeff interviews authors about their recent books on various leadership, personal growth, productivity, career, marketing and entrepreneurship.

Recommended: Episode #200 because it features a look back at five previous episodes and will give you a good feel for the show

Why I love it: It introduces me to new books, and it’s like skimming through them in a bookstore mixed with a behind-the-scenes author interview. Often I download the author’s books on Audibles immediately following the podcast.

The Super Fantastic Leadership Show

What it’s about: Hosted by Dr. Daphne Scott and Marta Wilmes, this show is “devoted to supporting you in leading at the highest levels of effectiveness and the greatest levels of fun.”

Recommended: Episode #190 because it’s on communicating well as a leader – what influencer doesn’t need this one?!

Why I love it: I feel like I’m hanging out with my leadership besties! These gals take lofty leadership principles and make them practical and relevant in life and leadership – and they make me laugh every week!

Communicator Academy Podcast

What it’s about: Hosted by Kathi Lipp and Michele Cushatt, it is “for those who love God and want to share His story through writing, speaking, social media – and yes – even marketing.”

Recommended: Episode #60 because it will encourage and empower you to share your story

Why I love it: These ladies are uplifting, practical and enjoyable. I always leave their podcast having laughed and learned.

Creating Disney Magic: Leadership Lessons with Lee Cockerell

What it’s about: Lee Cockerell is the former Executive Vice President of Operations for the Walt Disney World® Resort. In a friendly banter, host Jody Maberry interviews Lee in each episode to discuss his thoughts on leadership and management.

Recommended: Episode #174 because you’ll be inspired to live your big dreams

Why I love it: Listening to Lee Cockerell is like drinking in wisdom from your favorite uncle. He’s witty, no-nonsense, wise and caring in his advice. I’m always challenged to become better as a person and influencer by listening to his podcast.

The Ray Edwards Show

What it’s about: As stated by Ray, this show was “created for small business owners, and those who want to start a business.” During each show, Ray offers a sort of spiritual insight of the day, along with an app feature and his main message on business.

Recommended: Episode #72 because Ray shares his journey with and the truth about Parkinson’s

Why I love it: Ray is unapologetically authentic. He incorporates his Christian beliefs, life wisdom, marketing expertise and business savvy all into one hour of encouragement and instruction. Ray is a truth-teller and hope dealer – I love that!

…and honorable mention goes to….

The Brand You Podcast with Mike Kim

What it’s about: Mike teaches you how to build your brand and market your message from scratch. This gets bumped from the top five to honorable mention only because it is no longer an ‘active’. Mike is currently dreaming up a new podcast. {I can’t wait!} So, you’ll be listening to archives, but trust me, they are golden!

Recommended: Start at Episode #1 and listen to every single one. Listen – Implement – Repeat!

Why I love it: Mike is a master at marketing, and delivers his genius in a very simple to understand manner. You will immediately want to be Mike’s friend when you listen.
